Leffingwell Continuation High School and Cambria Community Day School serve the needs of alternative education students in Coast Unified School District. Although small, the schools’ high academic standards, hands-on approach and community connections make the schools exceptional places to learn.
Leffingwell serves the needs of students age 16 and over while the Community Day School serves those under 16 and those who need a small full-day program.
Message from the principal:
I am excited and honored to serve our students, families, and staff as your new Principal, and look forward to a great year at Leffingwell High School-Cambria Community Day School (CCDS). Our commitment is to provide a safe environment and academically challenging experience that will empower students to become innovative thinkers, creative problem-solvers and compassionate citizens prepared to succeed in the twenty-first century.
Although Leffingwell is a continuation high school that focuses on credit recovery, we are a WASC-accredited school with the same graduation requirements as Coast Union High School. Our small student population ensures that all students receive the individual attention and educational program they deserve. Our school is an opportunity for students to have a second chance at their dreams of completing high school and earning their high school diplomas.
Cambria Community Day School is also on our site. This is a small learning environment of a small group of students who work closely with three teachers. CCDS maintains an extremely small learning environment so students needing academic and behavior intervention can be in small classes with intensive teacher support. We are fortunate at CUSD to have our own community day school so we do not have to send our students to a county program. Our CCDS students are extremely successful.
Leffingwell-CCDS parents and guardians, I encourage you to become and/or remain involved in your children’s school life. Support, join, and participate in all the great things happening here. Along with the faculty, administration, and support staff, you too are leaders of learning, and play a vital role in the development of our students. Connect with teachers regularly. Check our website frequently, as it is full of helpful resources. Everyone is needed!
If I can be of any assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I wish everyone a wonderful year of teaching and learning!
