 Message from the principal:

I am excited and honored to serve our students, families, and staff as your new Principal, and look forward to a great year at Coast Union High School. Our commitment is to provide a safe environment and academically challenging experience that will empower students to become innovative thinkers, creative problem-solvers and compassionate citizens prepared to succeed in the twenty-first century.

The home of the Broncos welcomes the Class of 2018! Freshmen, know that this is the time to discover yourself, explore your interests, and find your passion and purpose. I encourage you to go out for sports, join clubs that interest you, or find one of our great performing arts programs that excites you, such as music or drama. Not only will you find school more enjoyable, you’re more likely to excel academically, because of strong peer connections and strong relationships with coaches or teacher advisors. With support from those who share your interests, you will thrive!

Sophomores and Juniors, welcome back! Now is the time to reflect and act upon your passion and purpose. Seek opportunities that will challenge your thinking, develop your priorities, and start planning for college and post-CU life. Take advantage of the counseling services Ms. Seay has to offer you, as well as independently explore and create your own opportunities, via social media, part-time employment, and community involvement. If you haven’t already done so, now is the time to experience the thrill of participating in competitive team sports and/or joining the myriad of extracurricular programs and activities at Coast Union – there is something for everyone!

Class of 2015, there’s a reason graduation is called “Commencement.” As your high school journey comes to an end, so begins the rest of your life. I challenge you, therefore, to make this the very best year of your Coast Union experience! Show the world that you are mature, self-directed young adults, ready for the opportunities of college and careers. Your experiences during the past three years are valuable and have shaped who you are today. And regardless of your confidence and capabilities, you are responsible to lead the underclassmen by your example: model tolerance and compassion, community engagement in the service of others, and pride in representing Coast Union.

Coast Union parents and guardians, I encourage you to become and/or remain involved in your children’s school life. Support, join, and participate in all the great things happening here. Along with the faculty, administration, and support staff, you too are leaders of learning, and play a vital role in the development of our students. Connect with teachers regularly. Check our website frequently, as it is full of helpful resources. Everyone is needed!

If I can be of any assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I wish everyone a wonderful year of teaching and learning!
