Coast Union High School rests in pasture land fringed with tall trees, about three miles from the Pacific Ocean near the village of Cambria. It serves a student population of the coastal communities of Cayucos, Cambria, San Simeon, and surrounding areas and has an enrollment of approximately 250 students. CUHS is a California Distinguished School, U.S. News and World Report Silver Medsilver_best_high_schools 2015alist, and listed as one of Newsweek’s Best American High Schools.  CUHS is one of the first public high schools in
California to distribute Chromebooks to students on a 1:1 ratio. Class meet in  Block Schedule with students attending 8 classes, four classes meeting on an alternating A/B schedule for 88 minute periods. CUHS has a wide range of extra-curricular clubs and sports teams in addition to its extensive list of college preparatory academic courses.
