Letter to Parents Transportation Department ( Safety, Bus Schedules)

On October 17, 2009, the Transportation Department left Cambria at 4:00a.m. to attend a training workshop in Tulare, Ca.  California Association of School Transportation Officials, Chapter 14, provided a workshop for over 200 drivers.  The subjects of training were First Aid, Mock Hijacking, Mock Rollover Accident, Smoking Bus, (Actual seated in a bus filled with smoke and how to evacuate), and Mock Trial reenacted the rollover accident.

California Professional School Bus Drivers are required by law to receive 10 hours of new training each year to keep their special certificates valid.  By attending this workshop, the drivers received 7 hours of that mandated training.  It was extremely valuable training for all that attended.  This training supports the safest transportation for our students at Coast USD.
