iPad 1:1 Site Visit – Santa Lucia Middle School
Thursday, January 24, 2013 8:30AM – 11:45AM
Friday, February 8, 2013 8:30AM – 11:45AM
Santa Lucia Middle School is the first California Central Coast adapter of a 1:1 iPad program in public education. After a successful iPad pilot project in 2011-12, Santa Lucia Middle School has launched a schoolwide 1:1 program this year and continues to innovate and lead the way in iPad implementation.
Your session hosts will be Henry Danielson, Director of Technology for Coast Unified School District, and John Calandro, Santa Lucia Middle School Principal. They will describe a variety of factors that have made the iPad a powerful learning device to transform teaching and learning. You will meet and interact with students, teachers and administrative staff and learn from their 1:1 classroom experience. You will also tour classrooms to see iPad use in the learning environment.
By the end of the session, you will:
• Understand how iPad devices are providing rich, interactive content – apps, textbooks via PDF Expert, internet browsing, video and media tools.
• Discover techniques and tools for mobile device management, iPad content and update management, and defining acceptable use.
• Learn from an early adopter how the iPad is redefining teaching and learning through a personalized, highly engaging approach for students and teachers alike!
• Participate in a Q&A.
